Dark Tranquility and Oxygen Destroyer i'll be checkin out
Great vid! I just met Penelope this past weekend (video available) at a screening of her documentary, We Sold Our Souls for Rock and Roll. I am a diehard Megadeth fan (thanks to Penelope) and I totally agree with you, the 2004 re-masters are AWFUL! Their debut needed a remaster and I do like that one. But Dave should've left the albums in their original form. Decline 2 is my fav. and is a really fun watch. Fun recap with all the bands and records.
Def interested in hearing that Fulci album And Warlord are always gonna get a listen Some interesting releases coming up Matt
Thanks for the Hydra Vein mention guys. Yeah, it most definitely poorly produced! We were plagued with low funds, dodgy management etc. You know the score. We had some great press in the UK and Europe but sadly lost momentum at the wrong end of a great decade of releases. My brother was in Deathwish in UK at same time. Great band.
Didn't get the box set- still have all the original vinyl releases. Into the Pandemonium is an underrated masterpiece.
Fulci and nails are the ones to get for August.
In Aphelion's debut for Century Media intrigues me along with Zeal & Ardor. But I'm most excited about Austrian Black Metal act Ellende who has an album out on the 30th
Oh, and I am DEFINITELY adding those Temple of Void reissues on my wishlist. I’ve become quite a fan of them since hearing you talk about SUMMONING THE SLAYER. Of course, the artwork on all their albums was a huge selling point, too.
I’m not the biggest death metal fan in the world, but one that is called Fulci, and whose whole thing revolves around his movies, already has me sold.
Thank you sir…
Back in the early to mid 80's there was several genras of dirivitives of Metal music coming out all at the same time. There was standard hard rock, hair metal, NWOBHM, Thrash metal, death metal, ectreme metal, Black metal, Slayer felll under Speed Metal. BTW I remember Liqorish pizza too.
Nile and To The Grave are definites. Dark Tranquility and Deceased are strong maybes. There will be a few more I'm sure.
Can’t wait for the Deceased record! Also looking forward to the Fulci and Hirax! There are 2 videos on UA-cam from the EP, Drill Into the Brain and Relentless. My only other knowing release I’m anxious for is the Nails newest record! Been trying to hit the stores and catch up on stuff I’ve missed or haven’t seen in awhile. Thanks for posting and take care, Matt!
Spectral Wound might drop black metal album of the year, and I'm so pumped
Damn…I missed it.
Killer stuff. I was a huge fan of the first Attic record. I thought it was excellent. Didn't really listen to the last one so I gotta check it and the new one out.
That Spectral Voice LP was a trip. I might give it another listen before deciding if it’s a purchase or not. Attic sounds SO up my alley. That’s an instant get right there. And I want that Twisted Sister box set. I’m already on a metal DVD trip, too.
Hello! Sorry to bother, but do you happen to know a Power Metal song called "The Fall Of The King" (probably this is not the title) that was broadcasted in 1986/1988 on Z-Rock? Nobody seems to identify this song, thanks in advance!
Nope. Sorry.
I really like Spectral Voice and Attic. Will be getting that Slower album.
man, even that Attic artwork made me think of the 1st Mercyful Fate ep !
What's in it for me
Awesome haul Matt,, need to get that Nihilist record and that Eviction record sounds right up my street, def checking that one out Thanks for the shoutout Mate, I really enjoy that Peaceville split Great video Man 🤘
Gave that Eviction record a listen here on UA-cam and it's really good.
Great haul, Matt. THANK YOU!! For the kind review and thoughts on our record. Loved the spot on comparisons that tell the proper fan what we listened to. Have to find that 80’s comp, sounds really cool and I dig that obscure stuff. The Slower is something I was hesitant on, but glad I got it. It’s terrific! Thanks again, Matt, take care.
You may have seen it by now, but here's a track from the new Hirax. I'm digging it! ua-cam.com/video/d0iopG4Jyzw/v-deo.html
Shit, and just think I came for cookies.
Hair of the Dog is hands down the bands masterpiece and the most cohesive album in thier catalog , but all of thier releases contain a gem or two, for sure.
Let me know which albums you're going to get (whether or not I mentioned them) as well as anything else that comes to mind, in the comments below.
12:09 Overkill covered that tune in 2014 (I think) with special guest, Mike Tornillo, sharing vocals with Bobby Blitz.
I saw them live at The Stone, on Brodway, San Francisco, back in 1987... There were no more than 50 people attending. I loved it!
Wow, I disagree with most of those. I mean, Let Me Go Rock and Roll is all kinds of awesome. There are at least 5 inferior tracks to that one on Hotter Than Hell. Oh, well. We can't all have good taste. 😉
Yes Hair of The Dog was the first I picked up at the record store. I recommended it to a college dorm mate who would carry on about Grand Funk, and I think I blew his mind with this album.
Huge Nazareth fan featuring Dan McCafferty
got Dan McCaffertys autograph back in mid 80s saw Nazareth about 5 times got alot of there albums Love Nazareth 1st album igot was Razamanaz on 8 track !!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
Manny is one of my top guitar influences.
i like early nazareth, and would disagree,no mean city actually brought back interest in the band, but malice is a weird album,i saw them on the malice tour, and was a bit dissapointed,as im a big zal cleminson too,but it was a bit mellow, with only a few rockers in the set, saxon were in support and went down better with the crowd
axl rose and brian johnson both sound like bad dan mcafferty copys
huge in canada
Flaming youth is a great song,it's a fusion of a Paul Stanley and a Gene Simmons Song called "Mad Dog". About "Torpedo girl" Yes Ace plays a great bass line, but what's this "Gene couldn't play a bass line like that" nonsense? You are obviously not a musician...Gene is a great Bass guitar player...with lots of compliments from many rock.musicians, including Jimmy Page, and Paul McCartney,He's got great groove, timing and sound sound ,and attitude, great bass lines on, Sure know something,Detroit Rock City,100,000 years,Watchin' you,Deuce and many Moore.... His playing one could say is a cross pollonation of McCartney Jack Bruce, and John Entwistle. 😇
I think Nazareth, Budgie and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band influenced a lot of future acts.
I always thought of Nazareth as a one hit wonder. I enjoyed the in-depth overview of the band. please continue, it's always nice to rediscover new music from older bands. Especially from the '70s. That was my teenage years.
Heading there today!
Tell Knayte and Xav I said hello!
Manny Charlton was one of the best rock guitarists on this planet!
Love Nazareth - Joni Mitchell said that This Flight Tonight was now their song after hearing their version...
Stoneground
i always thought hair of the dog was from the English term for drinking more alcohol to get rid of a bad hangover.
Very good video
You should check out Esperanto - Last Tango!
Excellent mate, always thought Nazareth were metal from hair but then drifted. Cheers
